Sunday in Stockolm

With just one day to cram in the rest of Stockholm we got up early and devoured a delicious breakfast at the hotel before grabbing our stuff and heading out into the city.

We crossed the bridge onto Skeppsholmen, where we strolled along by the water before catching a ferry to Djuragarden. We got a bit lost in a place called Skansen… before heading to the Vassamusset. This museum is well worth a visit, as it houses the awe inspiring shipwreck of the Vasa… don’t knock it until you have tried it that’s all I will say!

Then we put on our brave faces and headed into the Grona Lund’s amusement park. We only did a few rides (god rides are fun) but it’s really worth getting into those swing seats and letting yourself be lifted high above the city for the most insane views.

It turns out adrenaline makes Henry extremely hungry… so off we went to Ulla Winbladh, a restaurant just 10 minutes walk away, which serves traditional Swedish fare. Prawns in horseradish mayo swiftly appeared…

Swedish prawns

Followed by Swedish meatballs which were devoured greedily along with pickled lingonberries and cucumber. Flipping delicious. Watch this space as a recipe for these babies is coming soon…

We walked back all along the water, past our hotel and the restaurant from Saturday night until we came to Urban Deli. Here we sipped  coffee and chatted to the waitresses at the bar, before strolling back to the hotel for a bath.

Then out we went again, for a drink at the smart and central restaurant Riche before heading up to Nybrogatan 38. Recommended to us by our friends at Urban Deli, it was described as a favourite amongst the locals. We weren’t disappointed…! Between us we tackled the Swedish pickled herrings with a little schnapps…

Garlicky snails and little pork belly croquettes…

The most indulgent beef carpaccio with fried bread and a raw egg yolk….

And melt in the mouth Osso Bucco.

Ending on such a high, we strolled back through the twinkling city, extremely happy and rather full. I cant wait to get back there.
