Kricket delivered some of the best Indian food I have ever eaten, and yet there wasn’t a cuzza in sight. It’s all based on small sharing plates, each one as delicious as the next. We managed to order everything bar one dish on the menu, and although we were full, we didn’t feel gross. Great cocktails, beer and wine also on offer… I couldn’t recommend a visit here more.
Having never been to Pop Brixton, I was really impressed, it’s a great idea with loads of interesting foodie nooks and crannies to explore. But we knew where we needed to be and headed straight to Kricket to order the lot. After a couple of drinks out came Bhel Puri, a puffed rice dish with coriander chutney and yoghurt, unique and a must order! Then, salty, spicy, samphire pakoras with wild garlic mayonnaise and date and tamarind chutney. Finally, one of our favourites was the smoked aubergine with labneh and peanut crumble….
Next came the Keralan fried chicken with a curry leaf mayo… holy smokes. I could have eaten this by the bucket…
But I got distracted by the Vindaloo bavette….
And the grilled lamb chops.
We took a breather before finally sharing the Gulab Jamum, a milk-based sticky pudding served with clotted cream ice cream. Really worth ordering, trust me!
Without doubt, Kricket gets a big fat YummaNumma thumbs up. I’ll be back for sure.
